Simple, Guys and Gals,

It is a long standing practice for Rootes to build out a production run 
with whatever is in the parts bin that would work.  For instance, the 
late S5 Alpine came from the factory with Mk II "lidless" headlight 
rims, as the Mk II Tiger.  This particular swap appears to coincide with 
the end of Tiger/Alpine production, and is what was "on the shelf".  See 
my old S-5 that my son has restored in:

(Yes, one of the "S-5" pictures is an S-3.  Explanation given.)
