I don't think the Tiger email list is the proper forum for political 
rants. It's a free country so you can obviously say what you want, where 
you want, but let's keep the list to Sunbeam and car matters.

Since you brought it up, there is no current prospect of an oil or gas 
shortage. You may want to study the real world and commodity/futures 
markets and what sets the price and supply of oil. Prices are largely 
set by futures traders who take risks, with their money, to even out the 
ups and downs of market pricing. Prices at the pump will for sure go up, 
and then they will again come down, etc., etc.,  just like they do for 
any product in the financial markets. Company profits go up and down in 
every business. Do you want to almost immediately create a gasoline 
shortage? Just have the government regulate prices and distribution, 
like during the Carter administration, and you'll get your shortage 
right away. Let the free market take care of things, and prices will go 
up and down as always, but the market will make sure there is plenty of 
gas for our Tigers and Alpines, and even for all the other inferior 
brands of cars out there.
