Sorry to go back to the dipstick thing, but I think I got a lead on one!
With a stop-cup!
Can someone take a dig-pix of an original dipstick for a Mk 1A ? Mine is
382002083
The only really important part is the little stop-cup near the looped end
(what you pull on) This little stop-cup is missing on the sticks both in my
original engine in my car, and a spare engine I bought years ago. I have both
of
the rod sections of the dipstick but memory fails me on the stop-cup.
