What's the problem with a Ford alternator? I have one on my car, and it fits
very well in the top right side. You can make it a "one wire" if you get the
small regulator that bolts to the back of the alt. It's about 1 1/2 inches
square and about 3/8 inches thick.

The alt. bolts to the top bolt hole (7/16 inch) in the passenger side and
uses the Ford triangular shaped alt. bracket; however, I did have to modify
that bracket somewhat. It was touching the water pump pulley, so I had to
cut and weld one of the "webs;" but this was very simple to do. The
adjusting arm I got off of an early Bronco, and it needed some "recurving;"
but, I'm sure there are many that could be modified to fit.

I've attached a photo.

Anyway, this is what worked for me.
