thanks for the responses:
- the belt is new (about 300 miles or so) and was fine before i pulled
the engine out.
- it does have the grooved teeth in it.
- it either got worse or appeared for the first time after adding an engine fan.
- the water pump and alternator spin freely.
- I did install a new balancer but I used the same the pulley and all
the pulleys appear to be inline
- its not a very loud squeal - just a faint whistle.
i'll check all the pulleys and maybe run some sandpaper around the grooves.
