Working on it(glass for hardtop). We are getting a hard top from a customer.
Should have these available In a few weeks. The top we have is rough we need
another to make sure the back glass is correct.

I have yet to find the Alpine Parts Manual online; it would be a great
addition to TigersUnited but someone needs the time and ambition to scan it.

For the side window toggle catch screws; the manual does not spec out the
type or thread of any of them.

The screw through the plexi is tough; it seems to me I jammed a flat
blade screwdriver between the screw head and the bracket and I was able to
turn the button on the outside by hand. Maybe I was just luck here. You
probably try this screw first to see if it will loosen, then proceed to the
hardtop side.

The 2 screws to the hardtop have a Phillips head and you need a screwdriver
the really fits. I would give these screws a firm turn to see if they will
move; if not give the screwdriver or a Phillips bit a hit with a hammer to
see if that will shock the screws loose. Once they start to turn put some
penetrating oil on and keep turning.

I would look for stainless screws to replace these.

Yes there are some articles about cutting a windshield down and using it as
a rear glass but I thought one of the listers just made some rear glass or
maybe he is still in the process.

Subject: [Tigers] Hard top restoration

Hello and happy 2009 !

Gary Fish and I are going to restore our hard tops. In anticipation of
this,
I've a few questions:

1) we already have the glass side windows in hand and I'm wondering if
anyone knows the hot setup in
removing the side window toggle catch fixing screws out cleanly (so
they can be reused. Now
unavailable)

2) though I own an Alpine parts manual and have copied the appropriate
sections with parts list and images,
is there an Alpine parts list on the web so I can "play" with the
images?

3) I remember years ago that someone used a glass window in the rear
instead
of the plexi. Any comments?
Any personal experiences? Memory says it was cut from a Nova or Chevy

11 front windshield. Or was
it just too darn heavy?

4) I noticed the front toggles for both the hardtop and soft-top are the
same. My hardtop toggles are really in
need of plating. Did anyone ever sell these aftermarket or will I
have
to bite the bullet and go the
re-chrome route?

5) Any words of advise in general or warnings of pitfalls?

Best regards,
Jim Armstrong
