Although this may be a little bit off topic, I think it might be
relevant.
I have 14-inch Panasports on my Tiger - 6-inch wide on the front and
7-inch on the rear with absolutely no interference problems. The key,
as someone mentioned, is getting the correct offsets. I got my wheels
from Dale Akuszewski in California because I figured he knew the right
offsets if anyone did. It might be a good idea to pick his brain a bit
to decide on what you want and what is possible.
The discussion of which diameter to use has been repeated numerous times
on here and we all have our opinion, so it comes down to personal
preference in the end. The point about availability of tires for 13 and
14-inch wheels has some merit and entered into my decision to go from 13
to 14-inch. I have Dunlops on my wheels (185/60 on the front and 195/60
on the rear) and like them. The ride is not any worse than the 13-inch
tires I had and I find the handling better. I don't think the footprint
is significantly less than it would be for 15-inch tires and, since my
preference is for some comfort over all-out handling, I am happy with
the balance.
