Tim, I just happen to have a set of balance tubes laying in my shop floor from
an Alpine I scraped out- the rust was to far gone to save the beast- I can
check the thread on it and perhaps I saved the nut and a piece of the line-
although my son was helping and he isn't as prone to keeping every bit and
piece. Just let me know and I will take a ride to my shop and see if I can be
of help.
regards, Tony

Tim
I believe the fuel line on my Tiger at the balance pipe is 5/16
tubing. I recall the tube nut was about 2x longer than the standard tube
nut I could find so I reused the original; more threads, better contact.

5/16 tube nut thread is 1/2 - 24.

If you have a thread gage you should be able to determine what thread you
have.

UNF = unified fine thread which is similar and compatible with fine thread
in the USA

Pipe thread generally has a taper but I believe there is also a British
Parallel pipe thread.

Listers,

The parts book calls for a 1/2" UNF tube with a compression sleeve where the
fuel line meets the balance pipe. I went through this with my Alpine and as
I recall, the 1/2" UNF tube nut worked fine.

The balance pipe I have for the Tiger seems to have a different thread. My
local supplier was stumped and said it almost looks like a Whitworth thread.

Does anybody have insight into this? I bought the pipe on EBay as the
original was trashed so it possibly came from a different model? I guess I
could cut the nipple off and weld on a new one or find a different pipe
altogether but I am still puzzled by this.

Thanks,

Tim
