Couldn't agree more, Jim. When carphones first came in here in the mid-80's 
my employer got really 'ratty' when I refused one to go in my company car.
"We may need to contact you while you're away from the office."
"Perhaps," said I, "but not while I'm dealing with London rush-hour traffic 
on a motorway. There's a limit to what a brain can handle and I know my 
limits."

IMHO, cellphone use in a car for the driver should be restricted to when the 
car has stopped off the road and the engine is turned off. As for 
passengers, using a cellphone is equally distracting. In any case, why do we 
want to be so damned available all the time?
