Well, for reference, Jonmac, distances in this country are a little greater
than yours and public transportation is absent in much of the US.

My state of New Mexico alone is almost 30% greater in land area than all of
the UK.

The idea that the furthest point from the sea could be only 70 miles
continues to amaze people here.
