Gabriel - Just about everyone I know who shares this passion for the
marque, or British cars in general, will attest to the fact that deals like
this are almost impossible to resist.  I presume you are talking American
dollars.  If I was faced with the same opportunity ($1,400 Canadian), I
would already have started crafting a clever story to explain the missing
dollars from our bank account.  The one about donating vast sums to a needy
charity called the Moss Foundation doesn't work any more, by the way.  For
some strange reason, my wife Ruth simply does not understand the simple
principle of "economies of scale".  You can never have too many parts.  I
bought a garage load of spare TR6 parts two years ago for $300 (maybe
$200US).  The parts are worth their weight in gold.  An overdrive unit was
translated into a new transmission through a swap and I have used several
pieces outright.  I have a spare differential that  would have cost me the
equivalent of the Gross National Product of Somalia to buy new.

Alas, there is a downside.  Do you know how difficult it is to explain to
your wife and your banker that a timber - frame structure simply will not
meet our needs in a garage?  For the huge spans required to frame a
structure big enough to accomodate all these parts, structural steel is the
only way to go.  Lenders tell me they are not used to funding such a
project without assistance from the International Development Bank.  Talks
are currently underway.
