The quickest way to tell is to remove the vaccum hose from the top, fit a
short piece of tubing to it, and suck! This is assuming you don't have
available to you a proper vacuum testing device. Not only should there be no
loss of vacuum, but the small piston in the center of the EGR valve should
move freely up and down.
