Yes there is a VTR club in Richmond, VA. It is the Richmond Triumph Register
- we are also a chapter of the 6Pack and TRA local center. We are a 130
family strong club that was created in 1988. We meet at 7:30pm on the 2nd
Thursday of each month at Stony Point School. Call me if you need directions.
We would love to have you join us!
Every May we put on our British Classic Car Meet at the Meadow at the
Boulders. This year's event is on May 6th. Check our website at

club application, etc.
Also there is safety in numbers, at present we have 7 TR250s owned by RTR
members. We can help if you have any problems.

Greetings all,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to get my TR 250 up and
running after a difficult winter. I apologize for the delayed response but if
anyone here is in the accounting/auditing profession you will understand. If
you remember, back in early December I was having quite a bad time in trying
to
get the 250 running. It ended up being an electrical problem which most of
you
predicted. I want to thank all of those who provided excellent advise (which
I
am saving for future use), especially Speed Hallman (former owner), Rex
Townsend, Dick Taylor and Dale Morgan. If I have left anyone out please do
not
be offended. The solution to the problem was a new coil. I'm not sure if
this
is the only solution but it was the first option and it worked.
Yesterday, in Richmond, Virginia, temperatures were in the low to mid 60's
which
was excellent for top down driving. I took my wife and dog out for a couple
hours driving around town and on some old tried and true "driving" roads. It
was truly a wonderful experience and exceeded all of my expectations of what
it
would be like to have my own British ragtop. I feel very privileged to part o
f
the club.
The car ran fairly well but it does appear to be driving pretty rich (dark
smoke
from tail pipe, torque curve flattens out from anywhere from 2400 to 4000
rpms,
occasional idle problems). This is something that I plan to work on soon and
if
anyone has any advice, please let me know. I am new to carbs and would rather
not mess things up too bad (and I do know about not leaning it out too much).
This brings up another note, which also may be a variable in the odd running
condition noted above.
I noticed the drivability of the car declined (not significantly but declined
none the less) over the period of the day. I took a good look at the carbs
deciding when I would reset them and noticed that there was what looks like
dashpot oil visible on both Strombergs towards the seal on the bottom part of
the carb (not where the oil is added but the bottom quarter of the carb). I
would be more specific but I do not have the diagram in front of me at the
time?
Any advice? Could this be a cause for the above noted condition?
I know I may be pushing it but I have one last question. Are there any
listers
located in the Richmond VA area? Members of the Richmond VTR club (if there
is
a club in Richmond).
