Al---As Bill suggested, the problem could be a drag on the starter
motor. If power is getting to the starter motor, but not engaging the
flywheel, it should show up as a huge battery drain.  The next time
'nothing happens', turn on your headlights so that they're shining on or
off of something, so you can see this inside the car. Hit the starter.
The lights should dim noticeably if the starter is dragging. If the
lights don't dim, no power is getting to the starter, and the problem
might be in the ignition lock/switch contacts.
