Skip---The "shims" that I think you are referring to are the ones that
control rear wheel toe, (and to a lesser extent, wheel base.) The shims
at the front wheel A-arm brackets are for adjusting camber, in the later
TR6's.

Anything (spacer, packing rubber,)  that adds to the height of the rear
spring will move the camber toward a positive angle.
