Vance,
I believe the choke cable on your car must have been a replacement.
Sometime in the late 80s or early 90s I bought a replacement choke cable
form TRF I believe, and it had a non-removable knob. All my originals
and the current replacements have removable knobs.

        Hugh:

I have had the same problem. I just grin and bear it. My
originals were so worn that anything was an improvement.
One problem was that the choke knob is apparently glued on from
the factory. I tugged and huffed and puffed, poked prodded,
twisted and I couldn't get the choke to come off, so I finally
cut it off. The other knobs all had that nice little button
up inside the hole. Poke a small screw driver in there, and they
slide off, but the choke...man o man!
Then the problem of how do you get the new choke knob to
stay on, since the choke cable does not have the spring loaded
button to hold the new knob in place. You can glue it, but then
if you ever need to get behind the dash, you have to cut it off
again. What a waste. Finally went to the hardware store and found
a set screw that with a little pressure would 'self tap'
itself into the hole on the side of the knob. So far it seems to
be holding just fine.
        Time will tell....

        Vance

Anybody else have trouble with replacement TR6 dash knobs? I just got a
set
from a local Moss reseller. The printing is not solid and the typeface
on
the Choke knob is different from the others. The supplier says he hasn't
had
any complaints so far on these. He's checking with Moss to see if they
have
any better ones. Am I too picky? They don't look much better than the
old
ones they are replacing.
