Can anybody think of a reason not to use Lock-tite on these bolts? That might
fix your problem.

Subject: Oil Leaks

I realize that owning a British car gives oil the license to leak out of the
car but---- Two or three months ago I re tightened the bolts on my oil pan,
added new lock washers, used sealer around the bolts that go into the crankcase
etc and refuced the nornal trickle to a drip or two. Recently I noticed my car
was leaking "copious" amounts of oil onto my (and my Triumph buddy's) garage
floor. A check revealed the oil pan bolts were again loose. I'm having a hard
time trying to determine why the bolts have loosened. Is the ghost of Lucas
(George or Emil) loosening then after I go to bed? I used hardware store grade
lock washers (should I have got grade 8) when I tightened them the first time
and am using Mobil 1 motor oil. Am I missing something?Mike Lunsford, 1970
