Todd,
The splines are OK. I have examined them myself and they were examined last
fall by a LBC mechanic and one marginal one was replaced. I am no wire wheel
specialist, but the wheels themselves appear to be in decent shape.
Unfortunately, I didnt do a before front end rebuild check to have a reference
point. I think part of the solution lies in the fact that the rear wheels have
no play. That fact and the fact that the left front has less play seems to
indicate loose wheel bearings to me, but it really seems they are quite snug
when I have the wheel off. I just dont want to overtighten them.
