To all of you help with this problem, and you know who you are, thank you very
much for the hints, ideas, encouragement and empathy.

The good news I am back on the street and enjoying the 70 degree days and
putting the cars thru its paces.

The mystery problem is still somewhat a mystery. If you recall I check,
rechecked and checked again the 101's of troubleshooting a non-running car ...
air, fuel, spark, timing. With out so much as a pop out the exhaust.

What was done to get the car running .... after swapping out dang near every
ignition part and reworking the carbs and new plugs and wires and swapping the
coil and checking every air leak hot spot and emission component and draining
the gas .... was:

- remove all the plugs ... to see if flooding was a problem
- use the static timing technique.. and a straightened coat hanger to fit in
the plug hole to help verify the top of the stroke
- reinstall the plugs
- recheck the dist. to which I found one of the weights under the points plate
stuck
- recheck the points and gap
- turn the key and less than a second later ... ignition ... and she was running

To inject some humor here ... for two weeks prior to the breakdown the weather
was in the low 70's and the car ran great, other than the idle jumping around a
little. The day the car started running again it was very cold in the 40's and
windy and drizzling rain. Our guess is that the car was home sick and all it
need was some home cooking.

I have since performed a major tune up on the car and she is running great.

I truly wish I knew exactly what the problem(s) was/were.

Now I have to go buy new parts for all the ones I used off the cars that the
other guys drove over. If you remember we had three triumph mechanics trying
to get this one working. We swapped dang near every part imaginable between
cars.

TO ALL TRIUMPH OWNERS: I can only say that even though this seemed like a
major pain it really was not. It was a great time with great people keeping
history on the roads. It was, in my opinion, what being a Triumph owner is all
about.
