Hi, Doug---I'm glad you still like your "new" car. I was sure you would,
given the outstanding condition it was in. (Exception noted on the
speedo, and I believe the tach were not original)

Obviously a properly rebuilt speedo should not be so erratic, especailly
after a rebuild. Hopefully, the rebuilder knew to put the correct
gearing into this unit, and intended to go in a TR6.
There's an outside chance that the problem can be solved by replacing
the speedo cable with a new one. Old cables have been known to wind up
and release, due to internal wear and drag at the bends in their sheath.
Some older cables could be separated and greased, by pulling out cable
at the speedo connection knurled
nut, if you want to try this first.
(Some newer cables cannot be easily separated)

List...This car of Doug's was one of very few TR's that never leaked a
drop of Any fluid, when parked in my driveway for over two hours!

Hi List,
Took ownership of 71 TR6 in July 03 after Dick Taylor's inspection., Had
car shipped from CA to NH, very happy with car and Intercity Lines.
Speedometer was erratic and the odometer did not work as well as the
trip meter. Removed from car and had a rebuild this winter. Went for
maiden voyage yesterday all went well except for speedometer. Works well
up to 45 mph then bounces wildly and then settles at 70mph(only
traveling 50mph) and travels smoothly up from there. Odometer and trip
meter appear to work fine. Any help is appreciated as removing
speedometer and waiting for rebuild is not a pleasant thought.
