        The engine will pollute less, and consume slightly less oil
particularly as the engine accumulates a lot of miles. If you must get
your car through DEQ to register, they can help insure that you will
pass.
        Having said that, the car will operate just fine without them,
and oil consumption will not be noticeably different. Since your valve
guides are phosphor bronze, they can run with very tight tolerances and
will last a very long time. Given the number of miles our cars get
driven the benefits of the seals will most likely accumulate to your
heirs, and not to you.
