Sounds to me like you do not have the correct key for the trunk lock. Have =
a locksmith see if he can do his magic on the lock before you get frustrate=
 and do damage.

a friend has a 74 TR6, which he bought new.=C2=A0 parked it about 1987 in a=
 barn, and we are now in the process of resurrecting it.=C2=A0 it is in rea=
sonable shape; it was an Illinois car and there is some surface rust on the=
 body, but nothing horrendous (now it is safely here in Texas).=C2=A0 the i=
nterior is also in reasonable condition.=C2=A0 of course, if this car were =
on ebay there would be =E2=80=9Cno rust=E2=80=9D and the interior would be =
=E2=80=9Cexcellent.=E2=80=9D=C2=A0so far, so good =E2=80=93 the engine turn=
s over nicely by hand!=C2=A0 yes, we are taking it slow; we want to preserv=
e this car; it has about 70k miles on it and is pretty original.=C2=A0we ha=
ve run into an interesting snag =E2=80=93 the trunk won=E2=80=99t open.=C2=
=A0 by looking at my 72, it appears the trunk is unlocked =E2=80=93 the lar=
ger part of the opening for the key lock is on the bottom.=C2=A0 we can=E2=
=80=99t turn the lock with the key, and can=E2=80=99t push it in.=C2=A0 lig=
htly tapping with a mallet does nothing.=C2=A0 pushing up or down on the tr=
unk lid does nothing.=C2=A0any thoughts/comments/direction?=C2=A0just for t=
he story =E2=80=93 he has recently retired here in Texas to be with the kid=
s and grandkids, and noticed me driving my TR6 around.=C2=A0 he actually li=
ves across the alley and over one from me!
