"oil still looked like honey"

Years ago, I'd put mine on ramps to change the oil. With the drain hole in =
the front of the pan, it too me way too many years to realize that (D'oh!) =
I was leaving at least a half quart of the black oil in there. Now I use ja=
cks, and when it's down to a drip I lower the front and jack up the rear to=
 let it drip for a few hours (sometime days). My favorite "oddity" about ou=
r cars is how you can't get the oil filter canister away from the car durin=
g a change. And just in case you don't know why, it's because the steering =
column is on the wrong side of our LHD cars. So, I just cock it down there =
and let it drip. It takes seasoned finesse to get that O-ring out, doesn't =
it?

Don=92t be concerned about the lack of oil leaks.  Properly buttoned up, wi=
th a few extras to stave off the weak spots, and you should be fine.



A number of years ago my engine was rebuilt by an excellent craftsman.  I p=
ut several hundred miles on it in the next couple of weeks and the oil stil=
l looked like honey after that.

Thanks Tim. Put 50 more miles on it yesterday (top down and 40=B0) and I=92=
m very pleased that it runs better than ever. Having cam bearings installed=
 made a tremendous difference in oil pressure-the lack of which prompted th=
e engine rebuild. I=92m concerned, however, that there are no leaks anywher=
e, which doesn=92t seem normal.
