Gdday all,
Finally got around to fitting the new cover etc for the fuel filler on a V
series. There is a very small spring that holds the acuating lever up so the
top of the unit can be locked down and released. I did dissamble the old fuel
cap very carefully and as everyone knows, that meant the spring was recovered
and fitted to the new top, where it then fell apart. The spring from the air
valve in a car tube will fit nicely if you remove it carefully from the tube
valve.
PS. My car is finally back from the paint shop and carefully being
reassembled, thanks to all suppliers and alpine members from all over the
world who have helped with parts, advise etc.
PPS. For those following my string re 5 speed adaptions, I have my kit
(locally made) and will be fitting it soon, will let everybody know the
results.
