Eric,

Unfortunately no, in fact its worse than you think because you also have to
pull the hub from the axle which is far worse than the remainder of the task.

Subject: Rear axle question

I have a trickle of oil from my right axle into the brake housing.

What I would like to know is it possible to replace the bearing and oil
seal without disassembling the entire rear axle.
I've read horror stories regarding this very subject and one might
think that it would be a good time to part out your recently and
lovingly restored Alpine on ebay rather than take on this particular
service.

Any suggestions on how to undertake this task would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

Eric
