I bought cheap 12V impact wrench long ago from Damark?. It kinda looked
like a return item, but it worked so I kept it. Later on, it wouldn't
quite turn, so I disassembled it. Works fine now that I've loosened up
the fasteners securing front to rear. THink it might have been binding
before (sleeve bearings, bushings?) I don't use as much now that I don't
autox much and drive to events on my old tires.
Also, stock 1/2" drive regular length sockets were cheap and useless. I
needed 17, 19, and 13/16" sockets for my car (don't ask, its the way it
came) and found the supplied 13/16" socket rubbed the lug nut recess on
my Rev wheels. So, I modified case and bought Craftsmen 1/2" drive 13/16"
socket for its thinnner walls and quality and also use with deep sockets
for other sizes (for which I modified case to accept).
I'd buy it again, especially if it came with better sockets. It will
break free ~80 ft-lb torqued fasteners, but I also use antisieze so YMMV.
It was also more functional when I had spare 12V battery and would put
small battery charger on at same time as 12V wrench.
You don't need to open windows/hood and the extra voltage helped.
If you could buy one with an extended nose (anvil?) like some pneumatic
impact wrenches have, it would be nice as you could use "Bud" type two
way flip socket for two sizes of nuts and also use regular depth sockets.
