At least for the early year SS Camaro's, there are issues with verifying what
the actual std options are since the cars were fitted at SLP Engineering,
which is supposedly one of the reasons for the SS classification. However,
the later model SS Camaro's and all the WS6 Firebird's were factory
built/optioned. Also, a 1" wider wheel option (17x9 vs 16 x8) would be a
notable advantage in FS IMO, and the non-SS/WS6 whiners would most certainly
complain about not having a cold air package. Further, the fully developed,
Stock class capability of the SS/WS6 F-body has yet to ever be demonstrated,
so suggesting a class move with this circumstance generally appears to be
considered premature.

However, I would welcome them in the most competitively diverse Stock class;
A Stock. Afterall, one of the arguments for putting the E36 M3 in ESP is
because it is a German muscle car, so why not reverse the tables and include
the SS/WS6 F-body in the equivalent E36 M3 Stock class, but exempting the
SLP-built SS Camaro's, which probably should go straight to SP if the SEB
honestly believes SLP built them with non-factory options? I think the
SS/WS6 F-body could be potentially competitive in AS on certain courses,
without dominating the class. They'd certainly have a more fair chance in AS
than in SS (present or proposed) and we we would probably get a better idea
on the feasibility of moving them to FS, but then again...WTH do I know....I
seem to be in the minority for welcoming competition into the AS class.

I'm confident that the fact there are a total of (4) AS competitors on the
combined 13-member SEB/SCAC decision-making body would have no real impact on
negating such an idea...

day I can not believe that the SS camaro and theWS6 Firebird are not in with
the rest of the F stock cars. You can get the same rear, springs and shocks
as in a 1LE. The only difference is those 17 inch wheels. Give the cars a
home. Open the wheels to the rest of F Stock and let them have a chance. >>
