Hi Guys,
I've been watching over this heated discussion for quite some time
now. So I thought maybe it was time that I interject my own thoughts
on this subject. I am totally unbiased, since I never plan on running
in ESP.
I run a mid-pack Vette in BSP, and it seems that the M3 has a whole
lot more in common with us than with any pony car. I don't care what
the Camaro/Firebird/Mustang/DSM drivers say. The fact is that those
are not sports cars, while the M3 is.
It seems to me that cars should be classed with other cars of similar
type. (eg. Moderate to high power solid axle cars in ESP, and
independent suspension cars with moderate to high power-to-weight
ratio in BSP.)
I get tired of hearing everyone argue over time comparisons, since it
is very dificult to get a fair comparison that takes in all of the
variables. But logic tells us that if you put the world's best driver
in a totally sorted out M3 and in a totally sorted out Camaro, the
obvious winner every time would be the BMW. This car was simply built
to turn corners, and the Camaro wasn't.
I that the SPAC, or whoever is in charge of things like this, will
eventually correct the error. As a club, we need to put reasonable
people in decision making positions, and trust that they will do the
best job possible. We have argued every possible angle in this
debate. So lets just trust our leaders now.
