For those of you interested in the hotel situation in Lubbock for the upcoming
ProSolo (April 20, 21, 22), here's some general information.

The two official hotels are the Barcelona Court and the Lubbock Courtyard by
Mariott. Both are in Southwest Lubbock, which is fairly close to the event
site (approx. 15 minutes) and they are in a part of town with many
restaurants, including Outback Steakhouse, Applebee's, Carino's, South of the
Border, Chili's, Furr's Cafeterias, Cici's Pizza, Jason's Deli, Cheddar's,
etc. (All within 5 minutes).

Barcelona used to be an Embassy Suites, but it is older than some of the other
hotels in the area. Because of its Embassy heritage, all rooms are suites.
It would be a good choice for 2 to 4 people to share. All rooms have a
"kitchenette", with a small oven/stove and a small refrigerator. One room
will have two double beds or a king sized bed, and the other room will have a
fold out couch. A cooked-to-order breakfast is served every morning for free,
but they don't start until 7:00 a.m. or so. They may start as early as 6:30
a.m. due to some activities that will be going on in Lubbock. Also, they have
a "happy hour" that's included in the price of the room (5:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m.?).

The Courtyard by Mariott is fairly new, and is like any other Courtyard in the
chain. Other motels in the same area (good): Fairfield, Hampton, Ashmore,
Comfort Suites.

Still fairly close to the site, but not as many restaurants nearby- La Quinta
on Brownfield Hwy.- (not the one on Ave. Q, which is downtown). Also Country
Inn on 19th Street looks decent, and is only about $50.00/night.

Motel 6 is further from the site, off I-27, but probably still about 25
minutes to Reese Center from there. Holiday Inn Lubbock Plaza has a big lot
for parking if you don't want to leave your trailer at the site for some
reason. The Ramada is about 20-25 minutes from Reese Center, and is fairly
new.

I'd be glad to respond to direct inquiries, but I thought this general
information may be of interest to many. Come race in Lubbock!
