Be very careful about assuming someone has been hacked.  You have NO evidence 
to back this up. 
Most likely, they make an educated guess about what utilities people are using 
and make the call.

There is no need to spread fear and paranoia about computers being hacked.  The 
AntiVirus industry
does enough of that already. :-)  However, thanks for the heads up on the scam.
