The local chapter of the ALFA Romeo Owners Club in the Twin Cities had it's
annual pot-luck-picnic-and-car-ogle last night. On of the officers lives next
door to a church parking lot. The picnic is in his back yard, which is above
the lot by about 5 feet. You can munch on potato salad or Italian sausage
whilst viewing the panorama of interesting cars this event draws. Anyone is
welcome, no turned-up noses here. Last year I displayed my rusty autocross
Midget, with all the numbers and TEAM.NET stickers on it. I did not judge the
Mighty K-wagon sufficiently interesting, so we parked on the street. The
family sent home early in Brian's 626, as they can't take as much car shmoozing
as I can :-). I hope to have the Europa there next year.
Partial list, limited in accuracy by ignorance and bad memory.
Lotus Elan, original yellow
Lotus Elan, repainted a nice non-original blue, RHD brought from England.
Painted interior, no trim, looked pretty neat.
Caterham Super Seven brought with 1600 crossflow engine. Some idiot who had
been passing himself off as knowledgeable a moment before started to push on
the rear fender to test the shocks. I stopped him, explaining that Colin
didn't have that in mind, and Caterham was unlikely to have changed that.
This car had cycle fenders attached to the hub carriers in front.
Citroen Traction Avant. You could see the gearbox, complete with hand-crank
attachment, through the grill.
Renault LeCar, same layout as the Citroen, engine behind front transaxle. This
is TEAM.NETter Bob Fogt's DSP autocrosser, holding up the honor of the
"bald-tire" types with his wide wheels, flares and magnetics, especially the
"no downed cones" symbol.
2 each Maserati Ghibili (sp?) One of these ran the Coulee Classic rally last
year.
ALFA 2600 early sixties, gorgeous maroon.

Nice early Corvette Sting Ray in the same gorgeous maroon.
Unrestored Goliath sedan on a trailer, rusty as all hell, but enough metal left
to hold up the Vintage Rally Series magnetic numbers. A crowd favorite with
its flat engine having the transverse leaf passing over it.
DKW that ran the Coulee Classic rally last year.
SAAB 900 rally car.
More ALFA GTVs, Spiders and etc. than you can shake a stick at.
Lots more cars and motocycles I cannot recall right now.
