As I'm getting closer and making plans to swap a 2000 motor into my 67 1600
I've began to wonder about the rear-end. I have one of each (1600 and 2000)
both of which are tight but neither is LSD.

I want something that's responsive enough for spirited in-town driving but
that will still allow me to get on the open road and drive cross-country if
I desire, while still keeping the motor at an acceptable RPM level. I know
the lower geared 1600 motor will make it more "responsive", but will the
necessity to shift sooner and more often actually slow me down? BTW gas
mileage isn't really an issue as this will not be a daily driver. The 70
1600 with the Chevy 2.8 is VERY responsive with the 1600 r/e BUT with a
lower redline (about 4800), cruising above 85 is a NO-NO. (Considering a
2000 rear/end for this one too) <G>)

To anyone who's done the 1600/2000 swap, what did you do and how do you like
it?

Thanks for the input

Nathan
