For all:
Drove the 67 pushrod 2L to my favorite exhaust guy
yesterday, was able to take afternoon off of work.
Those guys spent almost 3 hours bending, fitting,
cursing, and pointing and yelling......end result is
great! They fitted a collector to the stock
manifold, and we used a CDM stainless
2 inch flex before the first frame hole. The
pipes thru the frame hole are 1 7/8, rest of
system is 2 inch. There is a 15 inch long
2 inch directional glasspack in the X of the
frame, and another back right before the
rear bumper. End piece is a 2 and 1/4
chrome tip. System is hard mounted useing
original clamps, so it dosnt rattle. Flex
is taken up quite well by the flex coupling.
Sound is very deep and throaty, and
quite loud when you get into the
throttle, but not boy racer loud.
Exactly what I was looking for.
Now that I have the noise out back,
I can tell that its time to adjust the
valves. I also got some spark knock
at heavy throttle and low revs in
4th and 5th, so I think timeing is
about right. When I got home
the exhaust was dark gray, so
mixture might be close to OK.
Gunning motor gives initial puff of
very small amout of black smoke
and, happy to say, no blue smoke.
Some folks on the list have inquired
about my planned exhaust, if the
exhaust guys would pre-bend a system
for them. After working on my car,
the exhaust guy said no way could
he do one of these except to get up
close and personal with the car.
Cost was 103 dollars. CDM charged
about 40 for the flex, so whole system was
less than 150.
Signed, pleased in Chesapeake
