Hi You,
Your carbs don't suck big time. That's the problem. If you look at the
throat of the carbs you'll see the piston hanging there blocking the mouth.
You need to get this piston nice and loose, so it'll flap up and down like
Jerry Springers fat mouth. Use a finger and lift up the piston, should be
easy to do, then let it drop. Should be a nice solid thunk when it bottoms
out. If not, then you need to take apart the carb and adjust the jet nozzle
and needle so they align and the piston freely goes up and down.
The other thing to check is the path from the fuel bowls to the carbs. They
might be gunked up with snot. Lots of snot, and your engine will whimper and
snort but not sing. Clean the passage with carb cleaner and an air hose, you
might need to gently apply a wire to scrape out gunk. Also helps to fully open
the choke.

here is an interesting predicament
I purchassed a datsun 2000's engine (the 2.0) not that you werent aware of
that (and pitty to the knowledge slackers who dont) And to my dismay after a
most in depth rebuild of this wonderfull "big block 4 cylinder"
(metaphorically speaking) It just will not start! i added a small amount of
starter fluid to this beast of roaring thunder and by god the drug happy
engine sprung to life! I then shut down the engine on the kill. I then
turned my remote ignition to notice that it again wouldnt start ..i added
more starter fluid and it again came springing to life like it never had a
problem to begin with. Being the wanna be geniouse that i am i used clear
tubes for the gas line to the power plant and noted that the fuel was indeed
rushing to the carberator like jerry springers security guard rushing to stop
the flying chair in the midst of an arial attack. I then tried again and
again adding either to every single turn over and found that by golly ..thats
the only way it starts! I added a bit of either to the fuel and it ran quite
well but got scared by the thought of it getting addicted! is it to late????
what can i do about my drug addicted 2.0!?!?!
