rear suspension

I have started to redo the rear suspension on my 68 1600. I put on
competition springs and KYB gas shocks, however, the shocks don't seem to
fit in the bracket connected to the springs. I put the same shocks on my 70
1600 with regular springs and they fit fine. On the 68, the angle seems so
sever that I'm not sure the bolt will go on. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated. TIA.
