Hello to everyone
Just wanted to update the old timers on the list that "Therapy 1" is running
better then ever. Just replaced the head gasket and had the valves
reworked.
I had replaced the gasket six months ago when money was thin and was not
able
to machine the head. It lasted 6 months. The problem was not warping but
corrosion
of the openings the water passes through. The distance between the cylinder
and the water jacket
was reduced buy over 1/8" and the head gasket would always blow in that
spot. (rear cylinder)
Solution was to have a welder weld in new aluminum and then mill the head.

Last week the weather started to cool off here in South Florida. So Saturday
morning
I took "Therapy 1" out for a test ride. Heading out of town I came up one a
Boxster sitting
at the light. Both of us had our tops down so I gave him the thumbs up and
he smiled back.
Then he took a double take at my car. How many horses I asked, "240 he"
said, "and your car"
he asked "about 100" I said (my 1600 has headers so 96+) Light turned green
and we took off together
not racing but just enjoying our cars. We pulled up to about 45mph which
puts "Therapy 1" right in her power
band for third gear. I punched it and pulled ahead or the boxster. He
smiled and punched it and (of course)
passed me. We came together and the next light and looked over and said
"Man! you must be geared low"
"Not really" I said "Top end is 110mph" He nodded. "Have a good day" One
boxster with a new respect for Datsuns.
   (To bad I didn't have Cal Speeds 2000) :-)
