As a frequent business flyer, DON'T check it under the plane--it'll be
broken for sure. I also seriously don't think they'll let you bring a
piece of glass that big onto the plane--after all, you might try and brain
a skywaitress with it!
I wouldn't trust a shipper, plus the expense, plus the fact that even if it
were insured, they likely couldn't replace it an any price.
Drive up and fetch it yourself is about your only really good option. Enjoy
the drive!
