Some of you already know this, but I thought I brag a bit for those who don't
and also update folks who've asked. Carole is working (volunteering) at the
Olympics this month. Carole's regular job is as a 911 dispatcher, and about 6
months ago the Olympic organization sent out a request to all 911 centers asking
for 50 volunteers to work dispatch during the Olympics. Carole volunteered and
got accepted. She is one of eight people working out of Hill AFB doing flight
dispatch. She is also one of the Mass Casualty incidents team (let's all hope
they're never needed!). When they told her she would be dispatching aircraft she
contacted them to ask what the heck that meant and to tell them she had no
background in that sort of thing. Well the folks there are very disorganized and
didn't quite know what the job would entail, but they said they thought she
would be dispatching medivac flights. Turns out that wasn't the job at all. She
is dispatching security flights, you know all those Blackhawks and F16's flying
security around the Olympics airspace you keep seeing on the news. She is having
soooo much fun it isn't fair. Anyway, if you care and want to know more, she
will be keeping a sort of web-based journal. She doesn't get a lot of time off
and conditions are not great as far as doing a bunch of on-line stuff, so her
entries will be sporadic. You can find it at our website, http://graiceland.org/
follow the link at the bottom to Carole's Olympic Adventure.

Wish we could have both afforded to go but then I would have missed all this fun
with the windstorm last night. ;-)
