Andy, My local auto electric shop will rebuild your Generator. It is a
generator and not an Alternator. You can borrow mine off the truck for now
if you want.

Subject: 1500 Alternator Question

Hey All,

Since I got my 1500 tuned up last month she has been running like a top.
Today was no different as I took her out for a spin on a stunning day- temp
in the late 60s and not a cloud in the sky. I know, spoiled Southern
California guys.

My car is positive groud and I don't have an amp gauge like the later cars
have. I have an IGN light on my speedo and today it starts flashing while I
am driving. The brushes on the old Alt. (38 uears old and was the original
one) are almost down to nothing. If I am correct, the light is due to low
voltage and increase in current (although it is flowing to Positive Ground).

I am reasoning the flashes are due to the winding of the engine where I hit
just above low tolerance.

So I am thinking new alternator. Any other ideas?
