Sorry, but that 35,000 mile engine replacement is a rumor.

The real reason why there are so many low mileage engines is because after a
few years the inspection requirements on older cars become cost prohibitive
and it's often wiser just to buy a new car rather than to spend 1,000 and up
to keep an older car on the road. The older the car, the higher the
inspection costs. The NY Times ran a lengthy article about this several
weeks ago and included in the article was a blurb about those supposed low
mileage JDM engines/drivetrains for sale in the US.

Many newer JDM cars rack up more mileage than 35,000 in their short life and
several people have been screwed by believing all the hype and false
advertising.

60,000 mile engines are not uncommon.

Caveat emptor.
