NO!!! The axle flange has a small radius to it. That "inside edge" goes
against the flange. Squared off portion sits against the bearing.
Little humor... I usually remove the collar (groove then split) myself.
Dropped everything off the the machine shop. Picked up the axles late on
a Friday... and at first didn't realize they forgot the BACKING PLATE!
