I have three collector car companies
listed on my links page. All three were
interesting to me when I was looking for
insurance for Mr. Hyde. In spite of one
lower bid I chose Haggerty because they
would insure ANYONE with 5 years driving
experience. I wanted my 23 year old
daughter to enjoy Mr. Hyde as much as I
enjoyed my 2L roadsters when I was her
age, and with Haggerty I could do that
without insurance worries. Since she
has discovered Mr. Hyde eats pocket
rockets in block races I do worry about
U-joints, but that is about all. I
can't complain too much because I used
to eat V8 Mustangs and 57 Chevy's with
my stock 68 2L.

If you have multiple collector cars the
rates per vehicle drop dramatically
because they recognize that you can't
drive them all at once.

I'm not being paid to say this... I
can't say enough good things about
Hagerty Insurance's classic car
insurance rates. After buying a 2004
Nissan Quest and being shocked by the
new insurance rates, I shopped
around for new insurance for all my cars
(Unitrin www.unitrindirect.com
was substantially lower than 21st
century for my newer vehicles, btw).

I'm saving $300/yr on my two newer
vehicles, but I'm saving $400/yr on
my Roadster and 411! I was paying just
over $500 per year for full
coverage on those two. Through Hagerty
I'm paying $111 for both
vehicles for the year! It would have
been only $96 if I didn't want
towing.

There are restrictions - I can only
drive them 2,500 miles per year each
(it's a bit more for 5,000 miles), they
must be garaged, and there must
be at least one "newer" insured car for
each licensed driver. But I'm
stoked! I'm gonna save $700 per year on
insurance and now I can
justify spending that on the cars! :-)
