hi.

first of all, i'm not trying to rain on your parade. i think going with a
non-black interior is a great idea. we painted our car a non-stock silver,
with blue racing stripes, and are planning a blue interior.

red is a great color, and tan goes very well with it. i just want to repeat
what i heard at a seminar on car restoration: they cautioned against tan
because of how easily it smudges/stains. they said if you go tan, which
they recommended against, always use gloves to put the top up and down. be
extra careful about the seats, etc, and always keep them clean.

having said that, i've seen many (not datsuns - who's seen many datsuns?)
red cars with tan interiors, tops, tonneaus, etc, and they look great! i
recommend doing the seats in leather and everything else in matching tan
vinyl, with tan carpet. it will really look good. for that extra touch,
how about red piping on the seats? there are even ways to have the black
vinyl painted . . .

good luck! can't wait to see pictures.

Oliver
