Use an electric - they're easy to add (do it right, though, and braze
mounting brackets to the frame - don't use the zip tie like things
that go through the core, cause they just chew up the core) and you
can put a thermo sensor in for an extra $20 and never think about
it again.
On a Triumph, the fan is directly attached to the crank - the faster
the crank goes, the more you lose from pumping air around. It's
exactly backwards from what you need - lots of air movement at
low speed, not so much help at high speed.
