According to a parts interchange sheets that I have, the Spitfire from '63 to
'80 all used the same rear brake drum and the GT6 used a different drum. The
GT6 '67-'76 MKI, II and III all used the same drum.
This is not to say that the GT6 drums are not interchangeable with the
Spitfire drums or that they might work with some modification, just that they
had different part numbers when they were new.

I understand that it is common practice to replace the front Spitfire
disk brakes with those of GT6s. What about the rear drum brakes? Is their
any
particular advantage to converting the Spitfire to GT6 rears drum brakes?
(For that matter are they really different ??)
