Depending on your intentions and driving habits you may or may not want to
convert. The GT6 is the only Triumph Sports Car of that era to have decent
size (and easily available) front wheel bearings. So I advise changing the
uprights from the ball joint to the lower control arm.
The stock Spitfire rear brakes are 7" X 1 1/4. GT6 are 8 X 1 1/4 except for
1973 models which are 8 X 1 1/2.
I have a 1969 Spitfire with a very warm 2 litre engine with overdrive
tranny. It's stock brakes were OK for street use , but the first time out
at Road Atlanta , the brakes started going away after about three laps.
After the conversion to full GT6 brakes there was never another problem.
