Barry,

The low rpms of the TR6 is due to its rubber-band crankshaft.  There are 
nasty resonances at around 6200, and then again at 7800 (I think).  A 
billet-steel crank eliminates that, and the you can wind out the straight 
six to over 8000 with safety (so I have been told, but make sure all other 
components are up to the task).
