Good morning FoT!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! Now comes the time to nominate an avid Triumph
Competitor in UK's Historic Rallyes. Do I hear a second? Please welcome
him.

Tony Scheach Tr4.tony@virgin.net is his prefered eMail address.

Here is his story....read it carefully:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------

A Scotsman with a long and winding passion for Triumph TR's, which
started in Edinburgh one day a long time ago, when a a bright red TR4a
with chrome wire spoke wheels smiled longingly and burnt me off at the
lights. Mini's were never the same from that time on and it took him
another 4 years to see that, but in 1991 he became a Triumph owner and
here 15 years later ....... Here he is.

Tony rebuilt (and still has) that first TR, a wedgewood blue TR4a (built
2 days before he was born) in the first week of July 1967 in Coventy by
S H Newsome and Co - this car LDU753Fwas one of the very last TR4a's and
the answer to that Edinburgh moment, but he preferred wedgewood blue
with blue leather, surrey top, lots of go faster bits and a drainpipe
for an exhaust. A number of other TR's have come and gone, but Tony has
been able to keep LDU753F all this time because of its history, the
sweat that went into building it and also because it is one of the few
cars around that is genuinely built of all original parts - most of
which still work. Tony still has a few other special projects stuck
away, funded by other TR things that pass through his hands, mainly in
pursuit of original parts which end up on the cars of his many friends
in the TR world. There's a special TR3a in his garage, and what could be
a very special TR4 - both make the road as time permits no doubt. If you
can help with either snippets of knowledge or original parts
(particularly for the TR4) Tony will be duly grateful. 15 years
knowledge and collecting only scratches the surface.

Motorsport in one form or another has always been Tony's passion and a
number of years ago he built his last TR (for the moment - officially
you understand), a wedgewood blue (now the house colours) 1964 TR4 to go
rallying with. BST82B is now quite a well developed rally car, built to
FIA regulations and therefore also to be eligible for UK and European
events. This car you will see around often - momentarily in your mirror
and then briefly the tail lights as it scrabbles past you with a growl!

Tony is also one of 5 Trustees who own 3 VC, one of the three surviving
powder blue Triumph TR4 works rally cars which had their last outing on
the Shell 4000 in 1964, a fabulous car and a real piece of history and
perhaps one of only a few genuine works rally cars of the period which
will ever be rallied again. In his hands it will be seen regularly and
hopefully, competatively. Last outing was the Rally of the Tests, where
Tony and Robb Kiff took 3 VC to 2nd in Class and 16th overall.
