The 9-volt battery lasts longer than my laptop battery... WAAAAAY longer. I don't see 9-v battery life as an issue. I've velcro'd the 9-v battery box to my laptop lid. Functional, but not attractive. If you use the right side of the velcro, it will also often adhere to auto carpet.
