Ryan -

Check on the back part of the intake manifold (the
part facing the firewall) - there is a little "freeze"
plug there that has, from time to time, a tendency to
pop out especially if the car has prefired through the
intake manifold (i.e. backfired through the carbs), a
likely possibility if you have just rebuilt the carbs.

Make sure it is fully seated... if it feels like on
edge is poking out from the manifold, that is your
problem. You can fix by removing it then replacing it
with a brass type bolt-seating freeze plug from Car
Quest / Napa (5 minute job)... or taking the whole
manifold off and tapping it back in place.

Also make sure your carb bolts are on with 20 ft-lbs
(light firm) of torque.

Alan
